Cub Scout Pack 1138 is chartered to All Saints Catholic Church in the Houston Heights, also home to Boy Scout Troop 1138.
We have scouts from Love and Harvard elementary schools. And will gladly accept any other boys that would like to join.
We currently have 40 Scouts in 4 Dens, and anticipate having around 50 to 60 Scouts total when Fall recruiting ends.
We are part of the Skyline District in the Sam Houston Area Council.
I’ve signed up with Pack 1138, what happens now?
Attend a Pack meeting for information for New Scout Families while the Scouts participate in the meeting.
In Fall, your son will be assigned to a Den and you will be contacted by your new Den Leader. The Summer events are hosted by the Pack. Den meetings don’t begin until Fall.
Starting in Fall, you will participate in roughly 1 to 3 meetings with your Den and one with the Pack every month, in addition to other special events and activities outlined on our Pack Calendar.
What is a Den and Den Meeting?
Each Scout is assigned to a group of about 6-8 Scouts (max. of 10) of the same age/grade level called a Den. Dens are grouped by the following ranks:
Lion (Kindergartners, accompanied by an Adult Partner)
Tiger (First Graders, accompanied by an Adult Partner)
Wolf (Second Graders)
Bear (Third Graders)
Webelos (Fourth Graders)
Arrow of Light (Fifth Graders) – Arrow of Light focuses on preparing the Scouts to cross over and become Boy Scouts. At this point, their Den becomes a Patrol, and they select their Patrol name.
During the school year, the Dens meet up to 3 times per month to have fun and work toward completing activities and achievements, at a time and location determined by the Scouts’ Families and Den Leader.
Each Den works towards a rank based on their age/grade level. The adventures they complete to earn their rank are outlined in the Cub Scout Handbooks and are fun, meaningful and age-appropriate.
What is the Pack and Pack Meetings?
All of our Dens combined make up our Pack (Pack 1138).
Once a month during the school year, all the Dens meet together in a Pack Meeting. The Pack Meetings are for all of the Scouts and their Families and consist of Awards, Activities, Songs, Skits, and Announcements (all of the boy’s major awards and badges are presented at Pack Meetings).
Unless otherwise announced, Pack Meetings are the last Monday of each month during the school year at 7PM in the Hall of All Saints Catholic Church (at 215 E 10th St.), and last about an hour.
In the Summer, the Pack meets participates in the Skyline District Twilight Camp program for a week.
